Buyer Map: QCK

Prepared for Nick Baxter | QCK | October 2026

As of Oct 6, 2026. Counts from a public list of US business locations, dated in the notes at the foot

This page maps the US buyers of ecommerce SEO and digital marketing in the categories your own case studies name, wellness, beauty and apparel, and the online sellers beside them. Each group is sized from a public count of business locations by staff size, and each lists the roles that usually sign off on SEO, content and conversion work. It says nothing about which of them QCK already works with.

Online retail locations, 10 to 249 staff

7,700

Online and mail-order sellers, 2023.

Supplement, vitamin and botanical maker locations, 10 to 249 staff

350

A floor, since some supplement makers file under a drug code no public count splits.

Beauty and personal care maker locations, 10 to 249 staff

420

Cosmetics, skin, hair and personal care, 2023.

Apparel and footwear maker locations, 10 to 249 staff

1,200

Includes brands that design and contract out production.

Locations by staff size

US business locations in each group by the number of people working there, mid-March 2023.

Industry codes are our closest match to each group, not your definitions. One company with ten sites counts ten times. The supplement row counts the vitamin, mineral and botanical makers' own code only. Some finished supplement makers file under the pharmaceutical preparation code instead, beside prescription and over-the-counter drug makers, and no public count separates them, so they are left out and the row is a floor. Apparel makers include brands that design in house and contract out the sewing.

Who signs off

The roles that usually own SEO, content and conversion work. Titles vary by company, and at the smaller brands one founder often holds several of them.

What no public count reaches

One buyer group this page cannot size, said in words rather than shown as a number.

Direct-to-consumer brands that make nothing themselves and sell mostly through their own store and the large marketplaces. In the public counts they sit under wholesale, under general retail or inside a parent company, and no public list separates them out as brands. They are in none of the rows above unless they file as an online retailer, so that group is built by name, brand by brand.

Three openings

Where the counts point.

Wellness and beauty, where your case studies already sit.

At least 350 supplement, vitamin and botanical maker locations and about 420 beauty and personal care maker locations have 10 to 249 staff. Your case studies are labeled by these same categories, so a list worked category by category can put the matching result in front of each reader.

Online sellers with 10 to 49 staff, where the audit reaches the person who signs.

About 6,300 online retail locations have 10 to 49 staff, and 1,400 more have 50 to 249. At the smaller end the founder or the head of ecommerce usually reads an audit and signs the work themselves, so the free audit your site already offers lands with the decision maker rather than a gatekeeper.

Apparel and footwear, a smaller pool worked through referrals and reviews.

About 1,200 apparel and footwear maker locations have 10 to 249 staff, a pool short enough to work by name. A named review from a brand in the same category gives each approach a peer the reader can check for themselves.

Denominators, definitions and sources

  1. Location counts are establishments in the federal annual count of business establishments by industry, 2023, national file, all legal forms. An establishment is one physical location with paid employees. Staff is paid employees at the location in the mid-March 2023 pay period.
  2. Industry codes: 454110 electronic shopping and mail-order houses; 325411 medicinal and botanical manufacturing (vitamins, minerals and botanicals); 325412 pharmaceutical preparation manufacturing is left out because its supplement makers cannot be told apart from its drug makers; 325620 toilet preparation manufacturing (cosmetics, skin, hair and personal care); 315 apparel manufacturing; 3162 footwear manufacturing.
  3. The national file withholds a few of the largest size cells for confidentiality. Where it does, the withheld locations are recovered as the group total less the published cells, and every one of them falls in the 250+ column, so each row still adds up to its total.
  4. The groups are the categories your case studies page names, with footwear added beside apparel from a review on your homepage, and the online sellers your own announcement of June 2026 names. Built from public registries, counts banded deliberately. Figures of 100 and over are rounded to two significant figures, figures from 10 to 99 to the nearest ten.

The named version of this page, the actual companies inside a row, is built one row at a time. If you want to walk through a row together, pick a time at cal.com/ecg. Prepared by Ben Beattie, ben@enquirerconsulting.com.
